About

The scrolling was longer than the film

DecideMyMovie exists for one reason: to end the forty minutes you spend deciding, so you can spend that time watching something instead.

The problem

You sit down with a free evening. You open one app, scroll a grid of posters, open a second app, scroll another grid, read three synopses, watch half a trailer, and eventually give up and rewatch something you have already seen. The catalogues got bigger and choosing got harder.

The problem is not a shortage of films. It is that every service asks you the wrong question. They ask what genre do you want, when what you actually know is how you feel right now. Wrung out after a long week, wide awake at 1am, sitting with someone you want to impress.

What we do differently

We ask about the mood, not the genre. You write it in plain words, the way you would tell a friend. “Something gentle, I have had a horrible week.” “Something that will keep me awake.” Then we come back with a handful of picks and, next to each one, a line explaining why it fits what you said.

That last part matters more than the recommendation itself. A list of posters asks you to start deciding all over again. A reason lets you commit.

One confident pick

Like a friend with great taste who has already thought about it, rather than an infinite shelf.

Honest about where to watch

We show what is actually streaming in your region and send you straight to the right service.

No engagement games

No ads, no autoplay designed to keep you here, no dark patterns. A good visit is a short one.

Where the films come from

Every title, poster, rating and availability check comes from The Movie Database, an open, community-maintained film database. Our language model never invents films. It only interprets what you wrote and explains the fit. Real titles come from real data. That is a deliberate design choice, and it is why you will not be recommended a film that does not exist.

The Movie Database (TMDB) This product uses the TMDB API but is not endorsed or certified by TMDB.

Who built it

DecideMyMovie is an independent project, built and run by a very small team in India. It is not backed by a studio or a streaming service, which is exactly why nothing on this site is a paid placement. Nobody pays to be recommended here, and nobody can.

Still early. The site is young and things will occasionally be wrong or broken. If you hit something odd, please tell us about it. Reports from real people are how this gets better.
