What we store
DecideMyMovie does not use cookies for tracking, advertising, or analytics. The only thing we place in your browser is a single item of local storage, which is a different mechanism to a cookie and is never transmitted automatically with every request.

Strictly necessary. Local storage, not a cookie. A randomly generated identifier created the first time you save a film. It is what lets your watchlist still be there when you come back. It contains no personal information and is not shared with advertisers. Persists until you clear your browser data. |

Because this is strictly necessary to deliver a feature you actively asked for, it does not require a consent banner under the ePrivacy rules. We are telling you about it anyway.
YouTube trailers
This is the one to know about. Trailers play through an embedded YouTube player. We use YouTube’s privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com), which holds off setting tracking cookies until a video actually starts playing. Even so, once playback begins Google may set its own cookies, and it receives your IP address either way, entirely under Google’s control rather than ours.
The player only loads when you open a trailer, so simply browsing the site does not trigger it. If you would rather Google never saw you, do not open trailers, or block third-party cookies for youtube.com in your browser settings.

Images from TMDB
Posters and backdrops load directly from TMDB’s image servers. Loading an image reveals your IP address to TMDB, as it would with any externally hosted image. TMDB does not set cookies through these image requests.
How to clear it
Clearing site data for decidemymovie.com in your browser settings removes the dmm_token identifier. Your saved watchlist will no longer be reachable from that browser, and the stored rows can no longer be connected to you.
- Chrome: Settings, then Privacy and security, then Third-party cookies and site data.
- Safari: Settings, then Privacy, then Manage Website Data.
- Firefox: Settings, then Privacy & Security, then Cookies and Site Data.

If we ever add analytics or any cookie that is not strictly necessary, we will ask for your consent first and update this page before doing so.
